Out of District Car Fire
By Firefighter Matt Hollis
June 17, 2018
At 2:45pm on Sunday June 17th, the Mount Kisco Fire Department was dispatched to the Saw Mill River Parkway for a report of a car fire in the southbound lanes in the area of Rt. 133. E104 responded and while en route it was determined that the car fire was in the Bedford Hills fire district, in the area of the Green Lane exit.
Bedford Hills Fire Department was dispatched and responded with 2031(Chief Nickson, BHFD), 2032(1st Asst. Chief Dennett, BHFD), E199, Tanker 5 and the new Rescue 10, quickly getting on the road. 2031 arrived on scene, confirming a fully involved car fire. 2031 requested that E104 continue in, along with his own departments apparatus. E199 and E104 arrived on scene almost simultaneously. The crew from E199 stretched attack lines and quickly suppressed the fire while E104 supplemented E199 with additional water. The car fire was quickly extinguished and units were released. A great response and job well done by both agencies.
