The Mutual Engine & Hose Co. #1 was established in 1878 and has been a private fire company that has contracted fire protection with the Village/Town of Mount Kisco since.  We are one of four private companies that contracts fire protection to the Village/Town, the other companies being the Union Hook & Ladder Co., the Mount Kisco Rescue/Fire Police, and the Independent Fire Company.  These four companies make up the Mount Kisco Fire Department.  The Mutual Engine & Hose Co. #1, along with the other three companies pride oursleves on being made up of 100% volunteer firefighters, keeping fire protection costs low for the taxpayers.  Being 100% volunteer is a challenge, there is a constant demand for more volunteers(please visit our recruitment page if you are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter).  The members of the Mutual Engine & Hose Co. #1 are always striving to provide the best firematic service, staying well trained, maintaining our equipment to the highest standards and ensuring of quick responses to emergencies.
