Members of the Mutual Engine and Hose Co. along with members of the Bedford Hills Fire Department participated in a joint ice rescue drill. We were fortunate this year to have a period of cold weather long enough to form ice and allow us to get members into the ice rescue suits and practice the maneuvers required to get a person to safety after they have fallen through the ice. Time is of the essence on calls of this nature and committing these skills to memory allows the responder to act without having to think very long of the next steps.
