We are asking all those who are registered to vote in Mount Kisco for your help. On Election Day, November 7th, 2017, after you have finished selecting who you want as elected officials, we ask that you flip your ballot over and vote YES for the firehouse expansion and renovation project bond. For those who need some more information on this bond referendum please see the information below.

The Facts:

- All three firehouses have not been expanded or renovated in 50+ years.

- This project will provide better living conditions for our volunteer firefighters when they are tasked with living at the station during both natural and man-made major events. You may not be aware but the fire stations become staffed with volunteers during any severe weather event to ensure quick response times; such as any forecast for snow, any severe thunderstorm warning. For example, when Hurricane Sandy hit, volunteer firefighters spent almost two weeks away from their homes responding to emergencies around the clock.

- Improve safety issues and concerns for firefighters.

- Bring the outdated buildings up to code and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Compliance.

- Increased storage. Over the decades, firefighting apparatus and equipment has become bigger and more advanced to meet the needs of various emergencies, but the fire stations have remained the same size, making it difficult to house all of our equipment in a safe manner.

- Increase administration and training areas.

- Add restrooms for a mixed gender workforce.

- New roofs and windows, HVAC upgrades, and other insulation upgrades to make the buildings energy efficient.

This bond is for $10.24 million and the impact over 15 years is a less than 1% tax increase.
